Fashionably Late?

It's been a while. I know, but life happens. With my nanny job ending, school starting, volleyball in full swing and working in my waitress job, it's pretty crazy. Since I know most of you love the "Fashion Fun" part of my blog, I thought I'd upload what I have been wearing, enjoy :)

I bought this dress for a wedding from Dress Lily and decided to pair it with a cardi, belt and wedges from Maurice's. And coffee, there's always coffee!

I LOVE this dress! The most comfortable Maxi I have every tried on! It was given to me from my aunt. I paired it with a chambray shirt and necklace from Maurice's

This was a chilly morning at school! Even my coffee mug had a sweater! Below you'll see the same outfit, this one has one of my favorite scarves from Bass & Co.
This entire outfit was handed down to me! My favorite leopard flats, PERFECT fit jeggings from Maurice's and over sized sweater from H&M. Perfect for the fall weather that is coming. Thanks to my bestie of all time, Ashley!

Happy first day of school!! I wore a high-low strapless dress from Maurice's, paired with the same chambray shirt form above. The necklace was a gift from my mom, years ago, from Lea Sofia. My favorite accessory, Mrs. Tami Morrison! Check her out on TPT! She's amazing and can literally create everything you need for your classroom. She also happens to be one of my best friends and school day ROCK!

Last, but certainly not least, our first in service day! Again, coffee, sweater belt, shoes and jeggings all from Maurice's (shocking) and my tank is a hand me down from my sister! Paired with the perfect teacher bag, "Keep Calm and Pretend it's on the Lesson Plan"

Here's to you, new school year! May you bring joy, inspiration, love and patience.

I am Pro Choice

I am a Christian and I am PRO choice.

(Said no one ever)

The Story

Abortion. Yes I am filling your head about abortion, just like everyone else on the planet. But I am not trying to rant here or just give my opinion, I am here to make you think. Here's the deal, I like my bubble. I enjoy my small town and the small town news. I hate looking beyond my world at how messed up society is about body image, how people think its okay to have gay rights and how gun control is being taken away, that's all over Facebook, hard to miss but recently Ruth, my darling mother, brought to my attention, in a nauseating conversation, about baby parts being sold. To which I replied with a run to the bathroom and my breakfast in the toilet, kidding, but I could have! She watched a video of people going undercover and discussing with Planned Parenthood the selling of fetus parts. I will be honest when I tell you, it is a disturbing thing to watch and listen to.

The Problem

As you can tell from my blog, I am a Christian. As you can tell from the title of this entry, I am Pro Choice. Contradiction? Hear me out.
Pro Choice, lets break that down.
Pro- a prefix for favoring something
Choice- the right or power to choose for yourself.
YOURSELF, not someone else.
Your baby, has a choice when it's born, to breathe or not to breathe, that's not something you get to decide. You, as holy and upstanding as you think you are, are not God. Sorry to break it to you.

The Solution

Just stop. Stop making it okay for people to have a choice to murder their child. Every child has a purpose, whether they came from a loving home or a product of rape. Each child gets to have a place in this world and that's the way it's supposed to be. People over use the phrase "everything happens for a reason" well guess what, it does. And just because it doesn't fit your timeline doesn't mean killing your baby should be accepted, that, my friend, makes you selfish.

I know I may have many people unfollow me on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and my blog but this is not something I will ever be quiet about.

Abortion is questioning Gods plan. He knew you and your children long before this world. Who are you to decide what happens?

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mothers womb. I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are Your works; and that my soul knows right well."
Psalms 139:13-14

Things to Ponder...

Bald eagles are protected by law, but unborn babies aren't.
Babies body parts are being sold, but a lion is killed and the world goes nuts.
They found bacteria on Mars, proving life exists, but a fetus with a heartbeat isn't a human.
When a pregnant woman is murdered, the killer is tried for two counts of murder, not one. Think about that.

Fashion Fun

My fashion blog will be a shout out to some great times with some great people, old school. I haven't really been in anything fashionable besides my bathing suit and coaching gear. Soooo enjoy some old school fashion

My sister is the coolest! She got my dad and I into the Ohio sports award ceremony and EDDIE GEORGE was the emcee. Got to snap a quick pic with him! The shirt  I wore was from my awesome sister, paired it with black pants and shoes, both from Maurices. and this ADORABLE ombre necklace from Francesca

Love this picture of some great girls! Such a fun time. My shirt is from Express, jeans are Miss Me and boots are from my favorite "Buy One Get Two Free" sale at Bass and Co.

On Friday we went to see Tim McGraw on a bus that held 40 people! I wore a BKE shirt and shorts from the Buckle and paired it with my red cowgirl boots from Texas.

I will end with this:
"You may choose to look the other way, but you can never say again you didn't know"

Someone who...

Someone Who I Used to know

The Story

I recently lost someone I care very much for. Someone who knew all of my secrets, weaknesses and strengths. Someone who changed me. And even though I lost a friend, someone I loved, I learned something about myself, it's not my plan.

When I was in high school I had a very calculated life plan. At 11 I knew I wanted to be a teacher, at 16 I started working toward that by working with children and organizing VBS at my church. At 18 I went to Auburn to be a teacher. At 20 I declared my major for Middle Childhood Education and at 23 I graduated from college with my degree in MCED, lastly at 24 I accepted my first teaching job and rocked it!

The Problem

But what about the rest of me? What about the rest of my life plan? I was supposed to be married by 23, have my first child at 25, second at 27, third at 29 and last at 31. I was supposed to be young wife and mother. Someone who could keep up with their kids. Someone that had it all. How can I not be successful in love? How am I losing this battle? Why can't I find someone to live out my life with?

The Solution

Sometimes it seems like I failed and sometimes it feels as if it will never happen and then I see things like this:
"For I know the plans I have for you"
Says the Lord
"They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope"
Jeremiah 29:11

So it's not about me and my life plan. It's not about what I want to happen and what I think I need. It's all about what He has planned. About the plan He made for me before I was even thought of. The life He expects me to live. My plans mean nothing. My future is out of my control and my hands. To know that my life is being taken care of, that I am being taken care of, is freeing, and relieving.

That "someone who I used to know" is someone in my past, the old me. The person that believed that I could change my destiny. The person who didn't think she deserved the world. I can say that even though it still hurts, everything happens for a reason and sometimes it takes losing someone to realize how truly great you are. I know, I know, cliche.
Get over it :)

Fashion Fun!

This past weekend some of my great friends and I went to Pittsburgh to see Shania Twain in concert. I have been to many concerts before, but this was the best one yet! I spent it with some awesome people and Shania ROCKED that place!

I wore my friends plaid shirt, my new BKE shorts from the Buckle and my most favorite cowboy boots from the Boot Corral.
anddddd I had to add the puppy I rescued, Grigio, because on most days, he rescues me.

The Names People Call You...

How Do You Brush It Off?

The Story

Throughout the years I have been called many names. From good to bad, great to degrading. At 26 I have learned to accept what people think of me and what they call me. At this point in my life what people believe about me is not worth trying to change. There are some people in my past that will always see me the way I was in the past. There are people in the present that will always see me the the I am now. Lastly, there are going to be people in the future who decide for themselves what kind of person I am, either by their insecurities or own person issues.

The Problem

People have their opinions, but it's up to me to decide if I let those opinions bother me. Just like everyone, I don't want to be a disappointment. I don't want to let people down. I never want be judged by a stranger, an enemy, a friend or a foe. In realizing this, I realize that I am the most judgemental of them all. I am my biggest enemy. Girls in general have a hard time with judging people. A complete stranger walks in an we criticize her hair, nails, make up, clothes, shoes, weight, height and who she showed up with. Why? What do we get out of it? Self conviction? Reassurance? The only real thing we get is intimidation because as much as we criticize, we are actually just jealous. There is a real underlying problem behind what our "comments" mean and that problem isn't with the pretty, tall, skinny blonde with the hottie on her arm, no, it's with us.

The Solution

"Mean Girls" is one of my favorite movies, I know, I know, that is the problem, but if you actually watch it there's more of a life lesson to it than one would think. The title itself speaks volumes. Mean--cruel, conniving, backstabbing, judgemental, nasty, the list goes on but they all mean the same thing. And the movie doesn't apply to just girls in high school, it applies to all ladies, women, and young girls. The cruelty starts younger and younger each year. It needs to stop. The premise of the movie is a girl, Caty, moves into town and two people befriend her. They give her the run down about "who is who" and what cliques to avoid. Caty decides to pose as a stuck up, sexy, self centered girl to be part of a popular group, The Plastics. She tries to take down their leader and while doing so becomes one of them. In the end of the movie she realizes that she doesn't know who she is anymore and decides to conquer the cliques head on. All in all everyone ends up friends and moves on. In real life, it's hard to just let go. People hurt you and things you say can never be taken back. So why say mean things about someone you don't even know? Everyone is facing a battle, it's not our job to be the judge of whose is worse.

James 4:12 says
"There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?"

Why do we think we have the right to judge others? It's not easy to do but it is something to work towards. We need to be better, all of us, you too boys.

Another note:

My favorite name people call me is "Aunt Ruby" it is the most rewarding, exciting, encouraging name. My nieces and nephews really make me want to be the best ME!

Fashion Fun!

The reason I didn't blog all of June was my brother, Stephen, was in town from Australia with his expecting wife, Toni, and 1 1/2 year old daughter, Evelyn. He was here for 3 weeks and we had a blast! One night we enjoyed a "dance party in the barn", something we used to do almost every weekend. Below is a shot of my siblings and I and my brother in law
I am wearing my favorite BKE shorts from The Buckle, a flannel mens shirt from American Eagle and a smile that you can only find when the people you love most are around.
This is the brother from down under!

In our small town we have something called "Founders Day" it's an annual event that honors are recognizes people in our community for all they do, have done and will continue to do. This year my grandpa was honored. He was a WWII vet who was MIA and a POW. He was honored for all he did for Burton and for our country.
Above are the people who mean to most to me in this world, my family. All my siblings, their spouses and children were together on this day to honor our grandpa.
Fashion wise, I wore my Maurices jeggings and a comfy flowy red top that I borrowed from a friend.

These are the minions that call me by my favorite name, Aunt Ruby. I was able to wear my tank from Texas and that smile again, a girls greatest accessory.

Last but not least! My besties birthday celebration! Love this lady!
Here I wore my BKE shorts, again! An awesome Brina Box flowy top in my favorite color and braided brown flip flops from maurices.

There Is No Way!

How Can It Be!?

The Story

It's the end of the school year. I still haven't accepted the fact that I am a teacher! How can it possibly be that I am almost done with my first year of my lifelong career

The Problem

Is there an actual problem, no, but it is mind boggling! Today I had a student tell me that this was her favorite year in school and how thankful she was to have me as a teacher. To which I sobbed about, naturally, but this is only the beginning! Tonight we have our end of the school year program where I basically say 'good-bye' to all of my students. These children have no idea the footprints they left on my heart. They will forever be my First Year Students and I will never forget them, yes, even the difficult ones.

The Solution

Since there is no problem, there is no solution. However, I will continue to work to better my teaching, my career, my life and my future students lives. I am already looking forward for next year and bigger and better activities, lessons and the blessings they are. The bible says:

Acts 20:24
But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

This is my calling, this is my ministry, this is how I spread the gospel of God.
May the good Lord love and bless you all!

Fashion Fun!

Love my new scarf from my dearest friend! I paired it with tan pants and peach cardi (both from Maurice's) and a with tank from AE. I don't leave the house without my wrist bling either :)

My boyfriend and I went to the Indians game with a huge group of friends over the holiday weekend. We had perfect weather and a wonderful time to celebrate a dear friends birthday!

Yes, I know this is not fashion (those gloves are stylish though!) This was a great social experiment I did with the fourth grade. Step one: squirt some paint on the black paper. Step two: play with it, how does it feel? (cold). Step three: put it back in the bottle. Make the paper black again! The looks and responses I got were priceless. I then explained; first, we say things that hurt our friends. then they feel "cold" towards you. That is when you apologize. Although our friends forgive us, we can never take back what we said.

Am I Enough.

Yes.

The Story

I constantly struggle with whether I am enough for my significant other, family, students and even self sometimes. Unfortunately it gets dark sometimes. I do my best everyday. I work hard to make everyone happy and to ensure that I am giving all I have to the important people in my family.

The Problem

It's not enough. I can't spread myself any thinner. I need more time in the day to get everything done for everyone and see all the people that mean the world to me. But there's not. So things get pushed aside and people get put on the back burner. Life takes over. Before I know it the week is over and I blink and its Monday. And I can't take it. It just doesn't feel like enough. It's stressful and annoying and sometimes I just need some ME time. The worst part, when it's all said and done, I haven't even had devotions.

The Solution

So that "rant" was how I felt weeks ago. Then I changed my daily routine. Devotions come first, at least close to first, it's a step. I have been trying very hard to use my new bible from sugarcrumbs.com and it has gotten pretty full of tabs and cool markings! I am enjoying my days more and stressing less. It's amazing what a little of God's word can do to your life. Never underestimate His power.
Acts 6:4 "But we will devot ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word."

It's gonna be okay.

Fashion Fun!

I took some time to spend with Wyatt ❤️
Today I wore a maxi dress I got YEARS ago for $.99 at JC Penny (before they were popular)
I paired it with a cardigan and brown wedges from Maurice's

Baby Goff...

The year of the Goff babies has begun!

The Story

I have three amazing sister in laws, and all three of them are pregnant and due this year! It's really exciting for me because I adore babies and children in general. I am currently blogging in the hospital awaiting Goff Baby Number 1. This one is a boy! His dad is the brother that is right above me in the line of siblings. We used to fight like cats and dogs! We were straight oil and water, fire and ice, night and day. My aunts and uncles, parents and grandparents always told us, "there will be a time where you'll get along" or "you'll love each other one day!" This my friends, was the truth. This blog has no problem, no solution, just love.

Each of my siblings is different. From our ages to our looks to our personality, we are all unique in our own way. But we do have some things in common, our parents, how we were raised and what is important in life. I can only imagine that raising 6 kids is a daunting, difficult task with its major rewards, but growing up our parents did the best they could to provide for us and give us the tools we needed to succeed. We played outside, all the time, WITH each other. My mom cooked dinner every night. We had a garden to grow our own veggies, we had pets and responsibilities at a young age. We had chores to do with out receiving allowance. We grew into well rounded, responsible and stable adults because our parents let us be kids while teaching us what was right, not only in their eyes but in Gods.

I love my siblings and their spouses. I look up to them and hope to be half the parents they are one day.  I look forward to when we have family cookouts with kids everywhere, and we are on our way to that! The children bring pure joy to me and fill my heart with warmth. I adore my family.

The bible says, " Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand if a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them."
They sure are a blessing.

Fashion Fun,

I can never skip fashion time :)
I have a couple fun outfits for you!
On Friday I celebrated being together with my boyfriend for 6months. Isn't he adorable :) I rocked my favorite comfy Maurice's shirt, jeggings and sandals.

This is what I wore right after my spring break! Love my Jessica Simpson shirt that I basically stole from kohls and my J. Crew pants with my low wedge heels from Maurice's.

I had to show my arm candy. I love my pandora bracelet from my bf, watch from the buckle and adorable cuff from my three besties, Ashley,Megan and Lindsay. Friends since high school, still going strong.
Remember....
